Coming off an eventful weekend, the Leafs will finally get some quiet time over the next little while.
In fact, the team didn’t practice on Monday, but Craig Berube did speak to the media.
More on that in a few.
Firstly, we kicked off the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing our weekends. Rosey had a chance to check out a Bruce Springsteen, so obviously, he dished on seeing the BOSS live. After that, I got Rosey’s take on the Jake Paul/Mike Tyson fight. What a dud!

Courtesy of Prime Video, we got into the Ryan Reaves suspension. All in all, we both agreed that the time matched the crime. That said, Rosey does think that Darnell Nurse put himself in a very bad situation. All around, I thought it was the perfect storm. Here’s hoping to speedy recovery for Nurse. By the way, Reaves will be eligible to return on December 4th at home against Nashville.
After that, we got into the actual game, we just didn’t want to bury the lede coming out of that one. Surprise, surprise, Matthew Knies scored another big goal. Additionally, Bobby McMann put forth another strong effort. Simply put, any time the Leafs can get some secondary scoring, it’s always a good thing. They’re now 8-3-0 at home and 5-1-0 without Auston Matthews in the lineup.
Midway through the show, we were hit with some breaking news. Toronto announced that Calle Jarnkrok underwent groin and sports hernia surgery and is officially listed as month to month. Naturally, we reacted to that in short order. Personally, I wouldn’t sleep on Jarnkrok and the impact he could potentially make late in the season. We’ll see how it all plays out.
To wrap, we touched on Chris Tanev’s eight shot block outing, Jani Hakanpaa’s first few games as a Leaf, and Mitch Marner’s impressive play lately.
Speaking of which, I think we’ll talk more Marner on Tuesday’s now. Is it time to sign him? Also, pro poker legend Daniel Negreanu is expected to join us.
