The Owen Sound Attack have announced the hiring of Sean Teakle to fill the vacant Assistant Coach position.
The Mississauga, ON native has spent the last seven years within the OHL in some capacity, being a scout from 2015-20 for the Ottawa 67’s, while being an Assistant Coach for the Niagara IceDogs the last two seasons. On top of his work within the league, Teakle has also spent time as an Assistant Coach of the Streetville Derbys (2010-11) and Milton Icehawks (2014-15) of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, and spent four years as an Associate Coach of the North York Rangers (2016-20).
“I’m excited to join the Attack organization,” said Teakle. “It’s hard to put into words, but definitely elated and really looking forward to working with Greg Walters and the rest of the staff. Greg and I already have a bit of a relationship, having faced each other on opposite benches in the OJHL playoffs, but really excited to be sharing the bench with him and helping develop this team.”
Teakle also brings some head coaching experience to the Attack bench, as he was the Head Coach of the Hill Academy U18 Prep team from 2014-19. The academy’s prep teams would travel to the United States, playing other prep institutions such as the revered Shattuck St. Mary’s program.
To accompany his work with developing young players at Hill Academy, Teakle has done off-season skills work with young players, including current Attack winger Colby Barlow.
“It’s super exciting getting the opportunity to work with the Attack’s young core,” Teakle offered. “There’s a ton of skill to work with in this lineup and I give Dale (DeGray) full credit for what he has built here. It never feels like the team is in a rebuild, every season they are competitive and right in the playoff picture.”
Sean has signed a 2-year contract with Owen Sound, and the organization is extremely proud to welcome Sean and look forward to the coming season.
