This is the first time Montgomery has been named a finalist for the Jack Adams Award.

Montgomery was hired by the Bruins last summer as Bruce Cassidy’s replacement. The 53-year-old led the B’s to the Presidents’ Trophy and the winningest season in NHL history. Boston finished the regular season with a 65-12-5 record for 135 points, setting new league records for single-season wins and points.

The historic season came to an abrupt end in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, where the Bruins fell to the Florida Panthers in seven games.

NHL award winners will be revealed live during the 2023 NHL Awards in Nashville on June 26.
