Bulldogs promote Matt Turek to Assistant General Manager – Ontario Hockey League

HAMILTON, ONTARIO.  Hamilton Bulldogs President & General Manager, Steve Staios announced today the naming of Matt Turek as Assistant General Manager, promoting Turek from his role as Director of Player Personnel.

Turek is a Hamilton area hockey fixture having begun his own playing career with the Burlington Cougars and Hamilton Kilty B’s, as well as a season with the OHL’s Guelph Storm, before an extensive professional career in the United States & Germany & Italy.

Following his playing career Turek moved into scouting, working for 7 years with the OHL’s Central Scouting team before joining the Bulldogs as a scout for the team’s inaugural 2015-16 season and has been an irreplaceable part of the franchise’s success. Promoted to Director of Player Personnel for the 2018-19 season, Turek has his fingerprints on both Hamilton Bulldogs OHL Championship teams in 2018 & 2022, all while simultaneously serving as an area scout for the Montreal Canadiens.

A large part of the local hockey community, Turek founded the Team Turek Elite 4-on-4 League that has brought so many high-level professionals together with developing junior players from across the province creating a tremendous development ground in Hamilton. Turek’s involvement with Hamilton hockey from creating an elite development league right on through his involvement with local youth development has made him one of the most respected people in the community.
