A native of Murmansk, Russia, Kuznestov spent time with both the Flames and the Wranglers last season.. With the Wranglers, he scored five goals and added eight assists for 13 points in 63 regular season games. Kuznetsov also appeared in one game with the Flames but was held pointless.

Drafted by the Flames in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Kuznetsov has played in 144 career AHL regular season games and has picked up 32 points.

A product of Praha, Czechia, Klapka had a similar game split to Kuznetsov this past season. In 65 regular season games with the Wranglers, he scored 21 goals and added 25 assists for 46 points. Klapka appeared in six regular season games for the Flames and registered a goal.

As Klapka and Kuznetsov both head into training camp, the pair could each have a chance to make the team straight out of the gates. With the Flames expected to have a younger team this season, Klapka and Kuznetsov should have some runway to show that they are capable of playing in the NHL.
