In a video uploaded by Kevin Parada on Instagram yesterday, Montreal Canadiens’ fifth-overall draft pick in 2023 David Reinbacher was filmed working on linear crossovers at a training session in Zurich, Switzerland.
Reinbacher has always demonstrated an elite fluid skating ability despite being a six-foot-three 200-pound blueliner. One of the main concerns from fans and media was how well he recovered following a right knee injury he suffered in a game back in October while playing against HC Fribourg-Gottéron.

In a recent interview with TVASports.ca, Reinbacher reassured the reporter that his knee is healed, saying, “I have no more problems with my knees…[The physiotherapists] did a great job… I’m really confident going into training camp.”
Speaking of training camp, Reinbacher is hoping to impress the Montreal coaching staff enough to earn an opening night roster spot. It’s improbable considering that there is a crowded blueline already, and a few players have paid their dues in the AHL and deserve an opportunity to represent the Tricolore.

The 19-year-old played in just 11 games for Laval last season, scoring two goals and collecting five points in the process. Given his inexperience with North American play, it will do him well to spend the majority of 2024-25 with the Rocket and prove he merits a debut if a spot opens up in a defensive pairing.
