Canadiens fans aren’t thrilled to receive injury news given that the team has been plagued with bumps, bruises and tears in years past. Yet, there is a new development that is relieving to the Habs faithful.
The KHL released pictures on social media yesterday showing the Canadiens’ 2024 fifth-overall draft pick Ivan Demidov completing off-ice training. For some time, the young Russian was inactive due to an ankle injury that kept him out of the weight room. The injury was the main reason behind him skipping both the Canadiens and SKA St Petersburg development camps.
This is good news for the forward, even if he’ll likely spend all of the 2024-25 calendar with SKA. A recent report detailed that both the Canadiens and SKA front offices discussed Demidov’s development plan being tied to a year in the KHL.

He isn’t the sole injury report on the radar of supporters. Recently, news came out of an injury affecting Canadiens forward Rafael Harvey-Pinard. The Canadiens announced Friday morning that the injury is a broken leg and that the winger underwent a successful surgery to treat it. The break transpired during a friendly game between AHL and NHL players. The worry is that RHP hurt the same leg that affected him during last year’s campaign. He played in 45 games last year, scoring two goals and racking up ten points during that span.
