A product of Winnipeg, Man., Bowey spent last season playing in the KHL for Dinamo Minsk, Traktor Chelyabinsk and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. In a combined 51 regular season games, he scored four goals and added 10 assists for 14 points.

Drafted by the Washington Capitals in the second round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Bowey has played in 158 career NHL regular season games, putting up five goals and 40 points.

Across parts of five seasons in the NHL, Bowey has played for the Capitals, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks.

With Bowey returning from overseas, he could have a strong chance to earn a contract with the Monsters. A solid defender at both ends of the ice, Bowey can still make an impact at the AHL level and could be a solid get for the Monsters if they decide to sign him.
