Ducks’ Cutter Gauthier speaks at development camp
Gauthier will likely begin the 2024-25 season as the Ducks’ lone rookie on their roster and among the favorites to win the Calder Trophy as the player “most proficient in his first year of competition in the National Hockey League.” According to BetMGM, Gauthier’s odds of winning the Calder currently sit at +500, tying him for fourth likeliest to win with Will Smith of the San Jose Sharks. Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov (+400), Dallas Stars forward Logan Stankoven (+400), and San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini (+350) are the current favorites.
After a sophomore season at Boston College in which he scored the most goals in a single NCAA season in nearly 20 years, Gauthier made his NHL debut in the Ducks’ 2023-24 season finale in Las Vegas against the Golden Knights, notching his first career point with a primary assist on a Jackson LaCombe’s game-winning goal.
Gauthier’s impact on and off the ice is palpable within the Ducks organization and in a decade full of meaningful rookie seasons in Anaheim, his is surely among the most anticipated.
