Saginaw, Mich. – Saginaw Spirit GM Dave Drinkill announced Friday (Sept. 2) that hockey club has signed 2021 seventh round pick David Brown to a Standard Player Agreement.

“We are thrilled to add David Brown to our roster,” said Drinkill. “When we released David from training camp last year, we asked him to work on his skating and his size. He showed up to camp this year and proved he deserved a spot on our roster by addressing those specific areas in his game and leading our camp in points.”

Brown, 17, starred last season for the Chatham Maroons in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (Jr. B) scoring 47 points (21 goals – 26 assists) in 47 regular season games and 22 points (9 goals – 13 assists) in 22 playoff games.

“I am so excited to join the Saginaw Spirit family,” said Brown. “This week’s training camp was an incredible experience and I’m looking forward to getting started with the pre-season games this weekend.”

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound left winger was the leading scoring in training camp with four goals and one assist in the two Blue-White scrimmage games.

Brown will wear No. 81 for the Spirit and will join his teammates this weekend in Erie when they take on the Hamilton Bulldogs Saturday afternoon and the Erie Otters on Sunday afternoon.
