David Pagnotta thinks the Leafs could package Timothy Liljegren for an impact addition: Leafs Morning Take

Leafs Nation is no longer on edge —at least for now.

That’s because for the second straight week, Toronto went out and put forth a strong performance on Prime Monday Night Hockey.

John Tavares netted a hat-trick as the Leafs handed Winnipeg its first loss of the season, 6-4.

We kicked off the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by giving our initial thoughts on that. Then, we laughed about that ridiculous statue unveiled for Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade on Sunday. Personally, it brought back shades of the Cristiano Ronaldo statue from a few years back. Nowhere ever close to looking like the guy. Utterly ridiculous. Good laugh, though.

Brought to you by Prime Video, we offered up a full recap of Toronto’s second consecutive victory on Prime Monday Night Hockey. The newly minted trio of Max Pacioretty, Tavares, and William Nylander were outstanding combining for four goals and five helpers on the night. Meantime, we did discuss the lingering discipline issues as well as the struggling power play, which is now a dreadful 3-for-32 on the campaign. For what it’s worth, the Leafs have now won 6 straight games against the Jets. Also, Connor Hellebuyck is now a pedestrian 7-10-3 in his career against Toronto with a 3.16 goals against average and 0.904 save percentage. He’s one of the best goalies on the planet, and without question, the Leafs seem to have his number. You love to see it!

After that, courtesy Charm Diamond Centres, NHL Insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period dropped by. We tackled a bevy of topics. We started with Jake McCabe’s extension before getting into John Tavares and Mitch Marner a little. Lastly, we broke down where things stand on Timothy Liljegren. He’s played one game this season.

We’ll be back on Wednesday at 11 AM ET for another edition of Leafs Morning Take. In addition to dissecting the latest news and notes from Leafs practice, soon-to-be Hockey Hall of Famer Jeremy Roenick will drop by the show once again. He’s never short on opinion!
