Switzerland is set to compete in Group B of the 2022 World Juniors alongside the United States, Sweden, Germany and Austria and they’ll have some OHL help on the back end.
Rodwin Dionicio (D) – Niagara IceDogs
A well-travelled young player who was born in New Jersey before playing his youth hockey over in Switzerland, Rodwin Dionicio knows a number of different languages and settled in nicely with the Niagara IceDogs as a rookie in 2021-22. Though he went undrafted last month, the 6-foot-2, 203Ib. defender will have plenty of opportunity representing his country next week before returning to an IceDogs club with sights set on an improvement over last season.
Brian Zanetti (D) – Peterborough Petes
Philadelphia Flyers prospect Brian Zanetti will be a go-to option on the Swiss blue line in Edmonton. Hailing from Lugano, Switzerland, Zanetti scored four goals and had 26 points with Peterborough as a rookie in 2021-22. Expect Zanetti to see some of the tough matchups in this tournament.
Other notables competing for Switzerland:
Giancarlo Chanton (D) – Former Niagara IceDogs blueliner
