First round pick Luke Misa commits to Steelheads – Ontario Hockey League

MISSISSAUGA, ON – Steelheads General Manager and Head Coach James Richmond announced Monday that 2021 first round pick Luke Misa has signed a Standard Player Agreement with the hockey club.

Misa had this to say about signing in Mississauga. “I’m excited to sign with the Steelheads. Looking forward to learning from my new coaches and teammates- proud to wear the blue and white!”

The ninth overall pick in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, Misa registered an impressive 62 points (31 goals, 31 assists) in 33 games with the Oakville Rangers during the 2019-20 season. The centreman was one of the top scorers for the Rangers during the campaign with a point per game average of 1.88 and is known for his speed.

“(Oakville was) a quick team and he was probably their quickest straight-line skater. Not many guys in his age group can keep up with him,” OHL Director of Central Scouting Darrell Woodley said in Misa’s prospect profile.

Steelheads GM and Head Coach, James Richmond commented on today’s signing, “We are excited to announce that Luke Misa and his family have committed to the Mississauga Steelheads. Luke is a fast dynamic player with the puck. His ability to make plays at high speed will no doubt bring Steelheads fans out of their seats. Even without the puck, Luke’s on ice intelligence and energy allows him to strip pucks from his opponents which will fit in real nicely with the uptempo Steelheads style of play. We can’t wait to see Luke in the blue and white very soon! We are very happy to welcome Luke and his family to our Steelheads family and can’t wait to get started.”
