The Florida Panthers have assigned forward Justin Sourdif to the Charlotte Checkers, it was announced Thursday.
Sourdif was activated from season opening injured reserve after suffering an upper-body injury during training camp.
Drafted by the Panthers in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Sourdif spent time in both the NHL and AHL in 2023-24. Although he was held pointless in three games with Florida, he scored 12 goals and added 26 assists for 38 points in 58 games with the Checkers.
Entering his third pro season, Sourdif should figure into a large role with the Checkers. While he has yet to establish himself as a full-time NHL player, Sourdif is a player with the skills to play anywhere in the lineup and that should help him in the near future.
