Former Golden Knights Defenseman Making Return To Vegas

by admin

Former Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Daniil Miromanov is making his return to Vegas tonight as the Calgary Flames come to town.

Miromanov signed a one-year entry-level contract with the Golden Knights back in 2021 after he scored ten goals and 29 points in 58 games with HK Sochi in the KHL during the 2020-21 campaign.

In his tenure with the Golden Knights, the 27-year-old played 56 NHL games, recording five goals and 15 points. He also played in 95 games with the Henderson Silver Knights notching 21 goals and 47 points.

The Golden Knights believed in Miromanov as a player and extended him on a two-year contract in the 2022 offseason. The decision to trade him was what was best for his career and the Golden Knights. The team had a log jam of defensemen, especially right-handed defensemen and the move to the Flames has allowed him to play top-four minutes.

“I was so grateful and so blessed to come over in Vegas and develop so much,” said Miromanov.

To start the 2024-25 campaign, Miromanov has played in all seven games recording an assist in 17:50. Listed at 6’4, 207 lbs, Miromanov has all the physical tools to be a reliable NHL defenseman and just needed the opportunity to do so. With the Flames, he’s receiving that opportunity and is thriving.

The Moscow, Russia native played against the Golden Knights during the 2023-24 season but tonight’s game will be his first chance to play in Vegas as an opponent. He spoke to the media about the opportunity to play in Vegas.

“It just comes down to getting ready, starting from the first minute of the game,” said Miromanov. “Follow the structure and follow the team plan is the most important thing. When we lose is when we deviate from our game plan.

For the players, they need to keep the mindset that it’s just another game but playing well against former teams is something they all aspire to do.
