The 38-year-old will be joining the Ottawa Senators training camp this month on a professional tryout (PTO), the team announced on Thursday.

Kulemin has spent the past six seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League, the last three spent with Ufa Salavat Yulayev.

The Russian winger spent the first six seasons of his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2008-2014. The height of his tenure came during the 2010-11 season where Kulemin recorded 30 goals and added 27 assists in 82 games.

Kulemin left the Leafs in 2014 when he signed with the New York Islanders as a free agent. He joined close friend Mikhail Grabovski, who was bought out by the Leafs a year prior.

Grabovski, since retiring has shared a lot of clips on social media, including both of them organizing a hockey camp this summer.

At 38, Kulemin would be considered a longshot to make the Senators’ roster. Kulemin would also be reunited with current Sens assistant GM Dave Poulin. Poulin served in a similar role in Toronto during the Russian’s tenure with the Leafs.
