Taking a look around the hockey world, there were some former Florida Panthers who made some pretty significant news on Thursday.

The veteran of 17 NHL seasons announced his retirement in a letter posted to social media.
He’s certainly going out on top, winning the Stanley Cup with Florida last season.
Another former Panthers player who is calling it a career is one of the best to ever play in Sunrise.
It’s crazy to think that Jaromir Jagr last played with Florida seven years ago as a 44-year-old, and he’s still going strong with his hometown club, the Kladno Knights, in the Czech Republic.
According to Match TV, Jagr’s agent said this season will be his last as a player.
This will be Jagr’s 37th professional season, and the fact that he’s still going strong and producing at the age of 52 is pretty legendary.
He spent parts of three seasons with Florida, racking up 49 goals and 130 points in 181 games while helping a young Sasha Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau grow in skill and confidence both on and off the ice.
Back here in the NHL, a former Panthers player received a nice honor this week.
Defenseman Radko Gudas was named the ninth captain in Anaheim Ducks history.
It comes as no surprise considering the kind of man and teammate Gudas was during his tenure in South Florida.
In addition to becoming the first Captain Duck since Ryan Getzlaf in 2022, Gudas has also been providing some great content on social media.
