Former Buffalo Sabres defenseman Victor Antipin has found a new home. He has signed a one-year contract with Barys Astana of the KHL.

Antipin, 31, played his lone NHL season with the Sabres in 2017-18. In 47 games with Buffalo, he posted zero goals, 10 assists, 41 blocks, and a minus-9 rating. After not receiving a qualifying offer from the Sabres in the 2018 NHL Offseason, the Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan native returned to Magnitogorsk Metallurg of the KHL. Before joining the Sabres, he spent the five previous seasons with the KHL squad.
Since the end of his Sabres stint, Antipin has played each of the last six seasons in the KHL, spending time with Magnitogorsk Metallurg, St. Petersburg SKA, Podolsk Vityaz, Ufa Salavat Yulayev, and Chelyabinsk Traktor. Now, he is adding Barys Astana to the list.
During this past season with Chelyabinsk Traktor, Antipin posted four goals, 17 points, and a plus-3 rating in 55 games.
