Golden Knights Head Coach Provides Vague Update On Mark Stone; Assigns Victor Olofsson To AHL On Conditioning Loan

by admin

Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy provided a vague update on Mark Stone’s injury, and Victor Olofsson has been assigned to the Henderson Silver Knights on a conditioning loan.

Both Stone and Olofsson skated today in non-contact jerseys but skated alone, not participating in any drills or having any involvement with the team. Nicolas Hague also practiced for the first time since he sustained his injury but was involved with the team, just in a red, non-contact uniform.

Olofsson’s conditioning loan assignment is a positive sign that he is healing and working his way back to the Golden Knights. The maximum length a conditioning loan can be is up to six days and three games. There are some cases where it can be extended.

Despite all three Golden Knights skating in some shape or form, Cassidy was unable to provide any timetables for possible returns. He’s hoping they can travel with the club or join them at some point during their upcoming five-game road trip but couldn’t commit to anything. He stated that the decision will be based on how their bodies react to today’s skate.

The Golden Knights skated with 11 forwards and seven defensemen for the previous two games and did so once again during practice but Cassidy confirmed that the team will be going back to the familiar 12 forwards and six defensemen when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

Kaedan Korczak skated with Brayden McNabb with Ben Hutton absent. He left Sunday’s encounter with the Washington Capitals with an injury.

Despite no word on when any of the three injured Golden Knights can return, the possibility of any one of them returning would provide the Golden Knights a massive boost. Skating is the first step but it’s also the first of many little steps that need to be taken when returning from lower-body injuries.
