Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Ilya Samsonov and Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark are set to face-off for the first time since the two shared offseason remarks.
Samsonov and Ullmark have battled multiple times in their careers as they played for rival teams. Samsonov and the Toronto Maple Leafs lost in Game 7 to Ullmark and the Boston Bruins during round one of the 2023-24 Stanley Cup playoffs. During that playoff round, Samsonov struggled and Ullmark was benched for Jeremy Swayman, despite that, Ullmark had very harsh words about the now, Golden Knights netminder.

“I was surprised that they kept Samsonov in for that many games against us in the playoffs,” Ullmark said. I felt that every time we played the Leafs and he (Joseph Woll) was in net, it felt like it was more of a challenge even though I’m not a player. Just watching him, it looked like he was in so much more control of the situation that was thrown at him.”
Samsonov didn’t wait too long to respond, taking to Instagram just a couple of months after Ullmark’s initial remarks to rebuttal.
“#10❤️” before adding another comment below his original message. “November 21, keep your a** shut) or are you injured again?” Samsonov commented. Samsonov deleted his comment not long afterwards but it was more than enough time for fans to take screenshots.
Linus Ullmark vs Ilya Samsonov tonight!

Context for those unaware:
The two faced each other in the first round last year with their former teams (TOR & BOS).

Today’s the day, Nov. 21 and both Samsonov and Ullmark are the projected goaltenders. Samsonov will have a chip on his shoulder and will be looking to back up his words. Ullmark has struggled to start his Senators career and will try to kickstart a change of fortune tonight against the Golden Knights.
Tonight’s encounter is one to watch.
