Ottawa, Ont. – The Ottawa 67’s announced, today, that they have received a commitment from 2023 first-round CHL Import forward Tuomas Uronen.
“Adding a player of Tuomas’ calibre, who has professional and international experience, will enhance the skill level and competitiveness of our team,” said General Manager James Boyd. “We are excited that Tuomas has chosen the 67’s to continue his development.”
Uronen, 18, was selected 57th overall by Ottawa in this year’s Import Draft, having also been taken in the sixth round, 192nd overall, by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The Kerava, Finland native spent the 2022-23 season with HIFK U20, in the Finnish U20 SM-sarja: Finland’s premier junior league. Uronen skated in 39 games, tallying 20 goals and 23 assists, for 43 points, also potting a goal and an assist in three post-season games.
At the 2023 IIHF World U-18 Championship, the 5-foot-11, 183lb. right-shooter represented Finland, scoring a goal and an assist in five games.
