USA Hockey announced its 29-player preliminary roster for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship to be held from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Three OHL players will attend their World Junior Camp being held from Dec. 14-16 in Plymouth, Mich.
Chicago Blackhawks prospect Gavin Hayes (Flint Firebirds), Anaheim Ducks draftee Carey Terrance (Erie Otters) and Barrie Colts draft-eligible netminder Sam Hillebrandt would all be first-time U.S. World Junior Championship representatives as they vie for a spot on the roster. The Americans won bronze last year in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This year’s U.S. National Junior Team is being coached by David Carle of the University of Denver. The Americans last won gold in 2021 in Edmonton. They’ll compete in Group B alongside Czechia, Slovakia, Switzerland and Norway.
