The University of Windsor Lancers men’s hockey program has announced that Niagara IceDogs blueliner David Jesus has committed for the 2023-24 season.

Drafted in the 12th round (231st overall) by the Oshawa Generals in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection, the Toronto, Ont. native played three seasons in the OHL, splitting his time between the Generals and the IceDogs. Jesus recorded 63 points scoring 10 goals and 53 assists (10-53-63) in 183 games over his OHL tenure.

The 6-foot-4, 181lbs. defenceman was invited to the Arizona Coyotes rookie camp after a successful rookie season in 2019-20, and during the pandemic related extended off-season, Jesus played in Slovakia where he suited up for 20 games with the Liptovsky Mikulas.

“I am really excited about this years’ recruiting class. I feel we have high end talent but more importantly, high end character to add to the existing group which is phenomenal,” said Lancers head coach Kevin Hamlin. “I am thrilled about this team and look forward to working hard with a group of men who share the same vision and passion for Lancer hockey.”

Jesus is expected to be a major contributor on the already talented veteran defensive core for the blue and gold and will study in the Odette School of Business.
