Barrie, ON – The Barrie Colts are proud to announce the signing of 2023 Second Round Selection, Jaiden Newton.

Newton, who was selected with the 26th Overall Selection played his U16 season for the Whitby Wildcats U16 program where he registered 31 points (16 Goals, 15 Assists) in 34 games. Suiting up in two games for the Toronto Patriots (OJHL) as an affiliate, he registered two assists.

“Jaiden is a player that likes to play the game with speed and isn’t afraid to get in on the physical play. He plays strong in all three zones while having the ability to create offence. We thought Jaiden had a good development camp and we’re happy to welcome him & his family to Barrie,” commented Head Coach & GM, Marty Williamson

The 5-foot-11, 160lb forward will be wearing #84.

OHL Central Scouting says: “Jaiden is a skilled forward that has become the driving force for his team offensively and isn’t afraid to mix things up physically either. He is a good skater with a good top end speed, he has very good edge control as he is hard to knock off the puck. He is a smart player that understands how to find and make space for himself in the offensive zone. He plays in every situation and is especially strong on the power play as he has very good vision and can finish on chances. Jaiden had a strong second half of the season.”
