DeBrusk will return to Bruins lineup, play on first line vs. Islanders originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The Boston Bruins are getting an important player back in their lineup for Saturday’s game against the New York Islanders at TD Garden.

Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery told reporters Friday that Jake DeBrusk is making his return after missing the previous 17 games. DeBrusk suffered a fractured fibula during the Bruins’ 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2023 Winter Classic at Fenway Park. Despite the injury, DeBrusk scored both of Boston’s goals in that victory.

The 26-year-old forward was having a career-best season and was on pace to score 30-plus goals for the first time before the injury. He has tallied 30 points (16 goals, 14 assists) in 30 games. If DeBrusk scores at, or near that rate for the remainder of the season, it will be a huge boost to Boston’s offense.
