Jay Rosehill thinks the Leafs lack heart: Leafs Morning Take

by

The ebbs and flows of another rollercoaster Maple Leafs season continued this past weekend.

After blowing a 3-1 lead on Thursday night on Long Island, Toronto blew two more leads – both on home ice – against Colorado and Detroit, respectively. They’ve now dropped three in a row as they prepare for what is sure to be a difficult four game Western Canadian road trip.

Everyone’s out for blood. Again.

We kicked off the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take by dissecting the All-Star jerseys. Furthermore, three more Leafs were named to the team (Morgan Rielly, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander). For what it’s worth, Toronto has just six more games to play before the big weekend.

Presented by Door Dash, in The Appetizer, we recapped what turned out to be a very ugly weekend that featured a pair of regulation losses. As expected, Rosey was in a mood, and he did not hold back on his assessment of the team’s recent play.

Meantime, contrary to popular belief, the sun did come up in Toronto on Monday. That said, there’s an ominous feel and it’s not just the cold weather. Simply put, there’s noise regarding the head coach again. We debated if there should be? What happened to the onus being on the players? This segment was sponsored by Charm Diamond Centres.

Also, we dove into Ilya Samsonov’s return, Pontus Holmberg’s emergence and Toronto’s new lines. It’s funny how quickly the mood can change in this market. One day, you’re feeling great about their long-term potential. The next, you want everyone, and their mother fired.

Join us on Tuesday at 11 AM ET as we preview Toronto’s visit to Edmonton. The Oilers have won 10 in a row. The Leafs direly need a victory.
