MISSISSAUGA, ON – The Mississauga Steelheads have announced that left winger Kieran Witkowski has been signed to a Standard Player Agreement.
“We are very excited to have Kieran and his family officially part of the Steelheads family.” stated James Richmond, the Steelheads Head Coach and General Manager. “Kieran is a super 200-foot player that will fit in very nicely with our group.
Born and raised in Toronto, the forward spent this past season with the Toronto Marlboros of the GTHL. In 35 games, the 5’10” left winger put up 41 points (22G, 19A) and posted 4 points (1G, 3A) in 5 games in the OHL Cup.
“I’m so excited to get started in Mississauga.” said the winger, “It’s been a dream for me since I was I think five years old. Mississauga is such a great organization and a team that I’ve always wanted to go to, so I’m so excited and so happy.
Witkowski possesses strong skating abilities and uses his speed to his advantage on the ice. The forward is known for his work ethic and prides himself on his complete game.
“I think I can bring a full 200-foot game,” Witkowski continued, “[I’m] a role player, whatever the coach needs me I can play, and I’m just excited to get started and make Mississauga a [Memorial] Cup championship team.”
OHL Central Scouting says: “Kieran is a speedy winger that can walk around defenders as though you they were standing still because of his top end speed. He is a threat every time he is on the ice and he loves to challenge players one on one. He has scored numerous highlight reel goals this year and is always a player that shows up in the big games. Not overly physical, but he does not shy away from battles in the corner for pucks. Kieran is a player that can go under appreciated on his team that is full of other high-end prospects, but he is a very big part of his team’s success.”
