According to reports from NHL insider, Elliotte Friedman, the Toronto Maple Leafs are shopping right-handed defensemen Timothy Liljegren.
With Drew Doughty sidelined due to an ankle injury, the Los Angeles Kings should seriously consider acquiring Liljegren from the Maple Leafs.

Liljegren, a talented defenseman, possesses the skill set necessary to fill the void left by Doughty’s absence. While he has struggled with confidence, he seemed to find his game when given a bigger role with the Maple Leafs last season. This newfound confidence could directly impact his play with the Kings, especially if he is given an increased role within the club.
At just 25 years old, Liljegren has already shown promise in the NHL, combining solid defensive play with offensive upside. He can move the puck effectively and help maintain the Kings’ offensive flow; however, he tends to struggle more defensively.

That said, if he is given an increased role with more ice time, he could work past those flaws relatively quickly, especially considering how defensive the Kings are as a team.
Bringing in Liljegren would provide a valuable opportunity for him to develop under the new head coach, Jim Hiller’s system.
