The Philadelphia Flyers have signed London Knights defenceman Oliver Bonk to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Bonk was selected by the Flyers in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft and participated in the club’s Development Camp in July.
The 18-year-old tallied 10 goals and 30 assists for 40 points in 67 games during the 2022-23 season. The 6-foot-2, 180lb. native of Ottawa, Ont. set career highs in goals, assists, points, power-play goals and shorthanded goals. He also set a career-high eight-game point streak from Oct. 29 to Nov. 19 (2-10-12).
The right-shot defenceman collected 11 assists in 21 playoff contests to help lead London to the 2023 OHL Championship Series. The blueliner ranked fourth in playoff points amongst OHL defensemen.
On the international level, Bonk appeared in five games for Canada in the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup to help them win a gold medal.
Bonk has registered 10 goals, 33 assists, and 43 points over 77 OHL regular season games in two seasons with the Knights. He owns 12 points (1-11-12) in 28 career playoff contests.
