Toronto, Ont. – The Canadian Hockey League announced today that London Knights forward Denver Barkey has been added to the 2023 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game set to take place this Wednesday, January 25 in Langley, BC.
Barkey replaces injured Kelowna Rockets forward Andrew Cristall on Team Red as he’ll compete against London Knights teammate Oliver Bonk in the annual showcase of the CHL’s top draft-eligible prospects.
A 17-year-old from Newmarket, Ont., Barkey sits third in Knights scoring with 37 points (11-26–37) in 41 games this season. The 5-foot-9, 154Ib. left-shot centreman had a goal and an assist in Friday’s 9-1 win over the Owen Sound Attack, and added a helper in Sunday’s 5-2 loss to the Kitchener Rangers. Barkey was selected by the Knights with the 16th overall pick of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection from the Toronto Titans U16 program. He represented Canada at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup last summer, recording four points (2-2–4) in five games to capture gold. Barkey was NHL Central Scouting’s 84th-ranked North American Skater on their midseason rankings released Jan. 13th.
