Sawyer, who was drafted by the Canadiens in the third round of the 2024 NHL Draft, was initially supposed to go back for another year of junior hockey but will now join the Friars.

A product of Orangeville, Ont., Sawyer spent this past season playing for the Brooks Bandits (BCHL) where he collected 78 points in 59 regular season games. Sawyer also added 15 points in 12 playoff games with Brooks.

With Sawyer joining the Friars, he will join a group that features players such as Nick Poisson, Chase Yoder, Hudson Malinoski, and Guillame Richard. Having finished with an 18-13-4 record in 2023-24 (good for fourth in Hockey East), the Friars will look to take another step forward this upcoming year.
