BOSTON, MA – (March 7, 2023) – The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced its Three Stars of the Week following weekend action played March 3-5, 2023. Top performers include forwards Kennedy Marchment of the Connecticut Whale, Sarah Bujold of the Metropolitan Riveters, and Jillian Dempsey of the Boston Pride who each contributed to a record three weekend series sweeps across the PHF.

First Star: Kennedy Marchment extended her record point-streak to 16-straight games with a pair of two-point performances in Connecticut’s two road victories over Buffalo. On Saturday she served up the primary assist on Justine Reyes’ second period goal that opened the scoring, then tallied her league-leading fifth game-winning goal of the season in the 2-1 overtime triumph. The goal provided the Whale with their first overtime win since Jan. 11, 2020. In Sunday’s rematch she set up Tori Howran for her first goal of the season to put the Whale on the board in the second period, then scored the team’s second goal on the power play en route to a 4-2 win over the Beauts. Marchment contributed to four of the team’s six weekend goals and over the course of the season has been part of nearly 43 percent of their offense. The 26-year-old All-Star from Marmora, Ontario ranks second in the league across all three major offensive categories with 33 points, 16 goals and 17 assists in 22 games. The 33 points ties her 2021-22 total that led the PHF and set a Whale single season record, while her 16 goals are a career-high and franchise record. The St. Lawrence University graduate is also Connecticut’s all-time goals (29) and points (66) leader over 42 games for a points-per-game average of 1.57 that ranks seventh among all-time PHF skaters. This marks her third weekly recognition of the season and second time as first star.

Second Star: Sarah Bujold recorded three points including two game-winning goals at home against Montreal that secured the Riveters with their first weekend sweep in three seasons dating back to Dec. 28-29, 2019. She was the overtime hero on Saturday when her breakaway goal just 47 seconds into the extra frame led the Riveters to a 2-1 victory over the Force. She extended her point-streak to three by collecting a secondary assist on Madison Packer’s second period goal on Sunday before sniping the team’s fourth goal midway through the third period which held as the decisive marker in the 4-3 win. The goal was Bujold’s tenth and came from her 86th shot on goal of the season, both team-leading totals. The 27-year-old All-Star from Riverview, New Brunswick now has 17 points in 21 games in her first career PHF campaign that follows three seasons in Sweden’s SDHL. Her collegiate career was spent at St. Francis Xavier University where she earned U SPORTS Player of the Year honors in 2017. This is her second time this season being listed within the league’s weekly three stars along with first star honors received back in November.

Third Star:Jillian Dempsey helped Boston reclaim first place in the overall standings with three points including two goals in a pair of home ice wins over Minnesota. She scored the team’s first goal on Friday night and later converted the first shootout attempt that led the Pride to a 5-4 victory over the Whitecaps. She also delivered the third goal in Saturday’s 5-1 win and chipped in a secondary assist on an Allie Thunstrom tally. The captain is currently enjoying the second most productive season of her illustrious PHF career following her 2019-20 co-MVP campaign with 14 goals and 27 points through 22 games which is tied for third in the league. These figures continue to elevate Dempsey as the PHF’s all-time leader in all offensive categories with 70 goals, 75 assists, and 145 points in 140 career games since 2015-16. The 32-year-old All-Star who hails from Winthrop, MA and graduated from Harvard University was previously recognized with first star honors back in December.
