The Ontario Hockey League is saddened by the loss of former Generals defenceman Dan Nicholson, who passed away at the age of 59.

A native of Oshawa, Ont., Nicholson played parts of three OHL seasons from 1980-83, recording 10 goals, 45 assists and 55 points over 131 regular season games. He helped the Generals win their 11th OHL Championship, scoring three goals and eight assists in 16 games on his way to the Memorial Cup championship in Portland. Nicholson and the Generals would make it to the championship game before they fell to the host Portland Winter Hawks.

The OHL extends condolences to the Nicholson family along with Dan’s many friends, family and co-workers at this difficult time.
