The Ontario Hockey League is mourning the loss of a well-known physician in the Sudbury community and an ardent supporter of the Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club for many years. Former Wolves team doctor Dr. Jacob Holub passed away last week at the age of 69.
The Wolves dedicated a recent win over the Flint Firebirds to Holub, who served the team for several seasons.
“We talked about it before the game and we wanted to win this one for Jake,” Wolves head coach and assistant general manager Ken MacKenzie told The Sudbury Star. “He did so much for the Sudbury Wolves, he was our team doctor for so many years, he was a fan and this one was for Jake.”
Holub, who served the Sudbury community through his family medical practice for more than 40 years, is survived by his wife of 41 years, Deris, along with three children and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held on January 12th.
