The Ontario Hockey League is mourning the loss of former London Knights and Peterborough Petes forward Logan Hunter who has passed away following a battle with cancer. He was just 39 years-old.
Hunter, who has worked as a lineman with Hydro One since retiring from his playing career that ended in 2007, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December.
A hard-nosed winger from Oil Springs, Ont., Hunter was drafted by London in the second round of the 2000 OHL Priority Selection. He’d play four OHL seasons with the Knights from 2000-04 before spending his overage season with the Peterborough Petes in 2004-05. He collected 125 points (56-69–125) over 289 career regular season games, and added 23 points (6-17–23) across 57 playoff contests.
Hunter played one pro season with the Port Huron Flags of the UHL in 2005-06 before playing some Senior A hockey at home in Petrolia. Since retiring, Hunter has been involved in coaching minor hockey with three young children all playing the game.
The OHL sends condolences to Logan’s wife, Alicia, three young children and the entire Hunter family as they mourn this tremendous loss.
