Draft eligible Erie Otters forward Carey Terrance is representing the United States at the 2023 IIHF World Under-18 Hockey Championship that got underway today in Switzerland.
The 17-year-old from Akwesasne, New York recorded a pair of assists in a 7-1 victory over Latvia to open the tournament. Terrance scored 30 goals and added 17 assists for 47 points over 67 games as a sophomore in Erie this past season.
Originally selected by the Otters with the 10th overall pick of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, Terrance was recently slotted as the 38th-ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting on their final rankings for the 2023 NHL Draft.
Terrance is one of just two players on the U.S. roster that didn’t spend the 2022-23 season with the U.S. National Development Program. He’s represented the United States before, recording three points (1-2–3) over four games at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup last summer.
