Predators’ Spencer Stastney Absent from Training Camp for Personal Reasons

by admin

The Nashville Predators announced Thursday that defenseman Spencer Stastney will be absent from training camp for personal reasons.

Stastney is one of the 63 players on the Predators’ training camp roster but was not listed among the three practice groups for the start of Thursday’s on-ice sessions, despite being under contract with the team.

A fifth-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, Stastney played 20 games for the Predators last season and scored two goals and two assists. He also started the first three games of the Predators’ first-round playoff series against the Vancouver Canucks but went down with an injury in Game 3.

The Predators signed Stastney to a two-year, $1.65 million contract this summer following a July arbitration hearing. The team did not comment further on the reason for the absence or how long Stastney would be away from camp.

Training camp continues Friday with practices and a pair of intra-squad scrimmages Friday at Ford Ice Center Bellevue.
