Before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passed, the Buffalo Sabres acquired defenseman Bowen Byram from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Casey Mittelstadt. With this move, the Sabres gave up one of their forwards to acquire a rising star for their blueline in Byram.

Following the move to the Sabres, Byram notably performed well. In 18 games for Buffalo after the trade, he posted three goals, nine points, and 34 hits. With this, he set new career highs with 11 goals, 18 assists, and 29 points in 73 games split between the Avalanche and Sabres on the year.
Given how well Byram performed with the Sabres, it is easy to believe that he can break his career highs yet again in 2024-25. He will get the fantastic opportunity to be in the Sabres’ top four and on their power play for an entire season, so his numbers have a great chance of improving. In addition, it is essential to note that the 2019 fourth-overall pick only just turned 23 years old, so he is very much still developing his game.
