Schedule of speakers unveiled for 2023 OHL Coaches Conference – Ontario Hockey League

Toronto, Ont. – The Ontario Hockey League has unveiled its schedule of speakers for the 2023 OHL Coaches Conference, that gets underway next Tuesday, August 8th for the first of three sessions continuing on Tuesday, August 15th and Tuesday, August 22nd, all held virtually via Zoom video conferencing.

The three-day program will provide all participating coaches with three certification maintenance points, applied to those coaches who are currently certified with Hockey Canada.

Early bird cost of the program is $125 (+ HST) and will last until the end of the day on Tuesday, August 1st. Cost after August 1st is $175 (+ HST) and both packages include a recording of all sessions.

2023 OHL Coaches Conference – Schedule of Speakers

Day 1 – Tuesday, August 8th, 2023
7:00pm to 7:45pm – Chad Wiseman (Head Coach, Guelph Storm) – Building a habit-based team
7:45pm to 8:30pm – Wes Wolfe (Assistant Coach, Erie Otters) – Connected play: Linking your systems into a style of play
8:30pm to 9:15pm – Rick Steadman (Assistant Coach, London Knights) – Breakouts

Day 2 – Tuesday, August 15th, 2023
7:00pm to 7:40pm – Dylan Smoskowitz (Assistant Coach, Barrie Colts) and Phillip Barski (Associate Coach, Barrie Colts) – Power play and penalty kill
7:40pm to 8:15pm – Norm Milley (Assistant Coach, Ottawa 67’s) – Creating 2-on-1’s and Attitude at the net
8:15pm to 8:50pm – Rob Wilson (Head Coach, Peterborough Petes) – Transition and entries
8:50pm to 9:30pm – Ryan Oulahen (Head Coach, North Bay Battalion) and Dr. Mark Bruner (Mental Performance Coach, North Bay Battalion) – Building and integrating a mental performance plan

Day 3 – Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023
7:00pm to 7:45pm – Kori Cheverie (Assistant Coach, Toronto Metropolitan University, Canadian National Women’s Team & Guest Coach, Pittsburgh Penguins) – TBA
7:45pm to 8:30pm – Rico Phillips (Director of Cultural Diversity and Inclusion, OHL) – Unity is a winning strategy
8:30pm to 9:15pm – Derek Laxdal (Head Coach, Oshawa Generals) – Power play
