Second overall pick Ryan Roobroeck commits to IceDogs – Ontario Hockey League

NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs are pleased to announce that 2nd overall pick, Ryan Roobroeck, has committed to play for the Niagara IceDogs.

IceDogs owner and GM, Darren DeDobbelaer had some high praise for Roobroeck saying, “We are very excited to have Ryan. He is a prolific scorer and a threat every time he is on the ice. As a late birth year, we will have Ryan on our team for three years and he will make an immediate impact in the OHL. “

The joint highest pick in IceDogs franchise history recorded an impressive 78 points in 29 games this past season with the London Jr. Knights, being named the ALLIANCE U16 AAA Player of the Year. This included hitting the 50-goal plateau, alongside 28 assists. He stands in at 6-foot-2 and weighs 192 Ibs. Roobroeck also suited up for Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games where he registered seven goals and four assists in six games, helping lead the team to a gold medal win. In addition to this, Roobroeck’s 2022-23 season was quite remarkable. Across regular season, playoff and tournament action Ryan accumulated 107 goals and 76 assists for a total of 183 points in 78 games.

Roobroeck will don the number 25 jersey for the IceDogs.
