Not only did Hertl’s play make him a favorite for Sharks fans, but his infectious smile and catchphrase of “fun must be always” also drew people to him. The surprising trade to the Golden Knights still hasn’t set in for some.
In an exclusive interview with Sheng Peng, Hertl said he still watches the scoreboard for Sharks games. The center said he still roots for the Sharks, except when facing them.
Tonight will be the first time Hertl will play against the Sharks. In 27 regular season games against the Golden Knights, Hertl has seven goals and nine assists. In 13 postseason games, he has nine goals and four assists.
Hertl is off to a strong start with his new club. He’s got eight points in eight games, including five points (three goals, two assists) in the last two games. Vegas has won its previous two games and will host a Sharks team that is trying not to become the first team in NHL history to lose nine straight games to start a season in back-to-back seasons.
