Six OHL players named to U.S. roster for World Junior Summer Showcase

Six OHL players named to U.S. roster for World Junior Summer ShowcaseSix OHL players have been named to the United States roster for the upcoming World Junior Summer Showcase, set to take place at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan from July 26th to August 3rd. USA Hockey announced its 46-player roster on Thursday.
Canada, Finland and Sweden will also have teams participating in the annual summer tournament. A total of 10 players on the roster including Hillebrandt and Terrance won gold with the United States at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
One of two players from Florida on the roster, Sam Hillebrandt comes off a strong first season in Barrie, playing to a mark of 16-15-2-0 mark over 36 games with a 3.67 goals-against average and .899 save percentage. Hillebrandt was outstanding in Barrie’s first round playoff series against Oshawa, making 196 saves across five games with a .938 save percentage.
On the back end, 2024 NHL Draft prospect Lukas Fischer registered a 34-point (6-28–34) season in Sarnia while fellow defenceman Matthew Mania heads to camp fresh-off a trade to the Flint Firebirds. The LA Kings prospect from Olmsted, Ohio recorded 23 points (4-19–23) over an injury-shortened 45-game season.
In the forward ranks, Anaheim Ducks draftee Carey Terrance returns to the U.S. World Junior scene after he was part of their gold medal-winning roster this past January. Terrance, from Akwesasne, NY, followed-up a 30-goal season in 2022-23 with 29 more this past season, adding four points (2-2–4) in six playoff games for the Erie Otters. Sudbury Wolves forward and San Jose Sharks first round pick Quentin Musty gets the invite having been named. to the OHL’s First All-Star Team in 2023-24. Musty, from Hamburg, NY, led the OHL in points-per-game with 1.92. Rounding out OHL players on the roster, Nashville Predators prospect Joey Willis was a Memorial Cup champion with the Saginaw Spirit. The Elmhurst, Ill., product had 50 points (14-36–50) over 66 games for Saginaw, followed by 11 points (4-7–11) in the 2024 OHL Playoffs.
