Stewart: Keck will transition well in UK

Coventry Blaze coach Danny Stewart says new forward Tristan Keck should have no problem adjusting the UK game.

The 25-year-old will make his first step into professional hockey with the Blaze after graduating from the well-respected University of Nebraska-Omaha in the NCAA.

And Stewart believes his qualities should see him step into the Elite Series with no trouble considering his experience so far.

“Keck will bring a load of energy to our line-up,” he said. “Tristan skates well, plays in all situations and plays with some grit. 

“He’s played in arguably the best conference in NCAA hockey against guys going straight to the NHL. He’s produced there, and I don’t see any reason why he won’t transfer that to the pro game here in the UK.”

Keck has spent the last four years in Nebraska, where he played 127 games, scored 27 times and added 31 assists during his time there.

He spent his junior hockey career with Winkler Flyers in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL), where he consistently scored more than a point-per-game during his four-year spell.

And Keck is looking forward beginning the next phase of his career when he joins up with the Blaze side for the Elite Series, which begins on Saturday 3rd April.

“I am very excited to join the Coventry Blaze,” he said. “I cannot wait to get back on the ice to start my pro journey by playing in the 2021 Elite Series.”
