Sarnia Sting General Manager Dylan Seca announced this morning that Associate Head Coach Brad Staubitz has stepped down from his role with the Hockey Club to relocate to the United States with his family.
“This was certainly a very difficult decision for our family, we have loved our time in Sarnia and with the Sting.” comments Staubitz. “I want to thank the entire organization, the staff, and players both past and present over my eight years, and of course the fans. We have some special memories both on and off the ice and will hold this community and the Sting close to our hearts. We look forward to this next chapter and journey for our family.”
A former Wallaceburg Laker and member of the Lambton Jr. Sting AAA program, Staubitz joined the Sting in 2015 following a 10-year professional hockey playing career which included 230 National Hockey League regular season games played split between the San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens and Anaheim Ducks. After spending one season as the Hockey Club’s Strength and Condition Coach, Staubitz’s passion and commitment to supporting player growth led to his promotion to Assistant Coach in 2016 and Associate Head Coach in 2020. Through Staubitz’s six season tenure behind the Sting bench, he helped lead the team to a franchise record winning season in 2018 and its first Western Conference Championship appearance this past spring.
“Brad’s departure is certainly a loss for our club. He has spent 8 years in various roles, but always exhibited a passion for this game and player development.” adds Seca. “His vibrant personality and tireless work ethic became a constant within our program. On behalf of the entire Sarnia Sting organization, we thank him and the Staubitz family for their dedication over the years and wish them well as they transition back to the United States. Our search for a new assistant coach is well underway and we expect to have an announcement in the coming week.”
