Guelph, ON – The Guelph Storm are excited to announce that General Manager George Burnett has agreed to a contract extension lasting through the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.

“George’s success over the past six years with the Storm speaks for itself and it was an easy decision to extend his contract as General Manager,” stated Storm Partner and President of Hockey Operations Scott Walker.  “The ownership group of Joel, Jeff and myself recognizes that George’s dedication to our players, our organization and our league make him the ideal choice and we’re excited about our prospects for the future under his direction.”

Burnett returned to Guelph for his second stint with the team as Head Coach and General Manager before the 2017-18 season.  Prior to last season, Burnett’s focus shifted solely to the General Manager role.  Since coming to the team, Burnett and the Storm have captured an OHL Championship (2018-19) and own a regular season winning percentage of 0.576.

“I appreciate the confidence that the ownership has shown in me to continue to lead the Storm Hockey Club,” Burnett said. “As a staff, we look forward to the challenge of building off a strong second half this past season for the incredible fans here in Guelph.”

During his OHL career, Burnett has served as General Manager for five franchises (Oshawa Generals, Niagara Falls, Belleville Bulls/Hamilton Bulldogs, Flint Firebirds and Guelph Storm) over 26 seasons and collected 799 regular season victories.
