Bruins vs. Capitals live stream: Watch B’s try to even series originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
The Washington Capitals will try to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series versus the Boston Bruins when they host the Original Six club at Capital One Arena on Monday night.
The Capitals were the better team in Game 1 and deserved to emerge victorious. Washington forward Nic Dowd scored the deciding goal less than five minutes into overtime to seal a 3-2 win.
The Bruins didn’t take advantage of the Capitals’ goalie issues in Game 1. Washington starter Vitek Vanecek was forced to leave in the first period after suffering a lower body injury. Craig Anderson replaced him and stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced. The B’s made Anderson’s job pretty easy, though. They didn’t get anywhere near enough pucks to the net and actually missed 21 (!) shots. We should expect a much more aggressive Bruins team in the attacking zone in Game 2.
Game 1 observations: Bruins need more offense from top line
The Capitals also could get a boost if second-line center Evgeny Kuznetsov makes his series debut. He took part in Monday’s morning skate.Â
