NIAGARA, ON – Niagara IceDogs Head Coach, Ben Boudreau has announced that Zak Lavoie has been named captain of the Niagara IceDogs.
“Zak has demonstrated his leadership qualities both on and off the ice. He’s the type of guy we are proud to have represent our organization both in the community and on the playing surface,” noted Head Coach Ben Boudreau.
Lavoie, a 2004 born forward from Ottawa, ON has skated in a total of 160 career OHL games and has amassed 63 goals and 55 assists for 118 points. Lavoie was drafted 7th overall by the Mississauga Steelheads in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection and attended Ottawa Senators development camp in 2022. The IceDogs acquired Lavoie from the Steelheads on December 12th, 2022, since being acquired he has 22 goals and 22 assists for 44 points in 58 games played.
“It’s an honour and a privilege to be named captain of the Niagara IceDogs. We have a great group of guys in the room and amazing fans supporting us day in and day out. I have full confidence that we will turn things around,” exclaimed Lavoie.
Lavoie will become the 16th captain in franchise history.
