The Ottawa 67’s continued their red hot start to the 2022-23 season on Friday, soundly defeating the Barrie Colts 6-1 at TD Place Arena as Cameron Tolnai and Brady Stonehouse both scored twice. It was also a milestone victory for 67’s head coach Dave Cameron, who became the 15th coach in OHL history to win 400 games behind the bench.

Originally from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Cameron has enjoyed four different stints as a head coach in the Ontario Hockey League, first with the Soo Greyhounds from 1997-99, then with the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors from 2000-04, before returning to the bench with the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors from 2007-11. Cameron helped the Majors win an Eastern Conference title in 2011 as they served as hosts of the Memorial Cup, reaching the championship final. Cameron’s latest assignment has come in Ottawa as he coached the 67’s to a 28-31-2-7 mark last season prior to their red hot 11-1-0-0 start in 2022-23.

Cameron joins London’s Dale Hunter and Barrie’s Marty Williamson as one of three active coaches with 400 career victories. Guelph Storm general manager George Burnett has also accomplished the feat. Cameron is one win shy of Eddie Bush (Guelph, Hamilton, Kitchener 1954-75) for 14th on the League’s all-time coaching wins list.

The Eastern Conference-leading 67’s are back in action on Saturday night at home, playing host to the Peterborough Petes who ended their perfect start to the season in the nation’s capital last Friday.
