The New York Islanders have recalled goaltender Marcus Hogberg from the Bridgeport Islanders, it was reported Monday.
The move comes after it was reported that Semyon Varlamov is day-to-day with an injury.
Hogberg, who is in his first season with the Islanders organization, has appeared in 10 games for Bridgeport this year, collecting a record of 2-4-5 to go along with a 2.97 GAA and a .908 SV%.
A native of Orebro, Sweden, Hogberg spent the past three seasons playing in the SHL with Linkoping HC, with his best season coming in 2023-24 when he posted a .914 SV%.

Drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the third round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Hogberg spent parts of five seasons in the Senators organization, appearing in 42 NHL games and posting a .894 SV%.
As Hogberg gets recalled to the NHL, he could have the chance to see a game for the first time since the 2020-21 season. Having proved to be a reliable presence in the past, the Islanders can relax knowing they have a more than capable option if they need him to make an appearance.
