POTSDAM, N.Y. – Gabby Dougherty ’26 scored at the 16:52 mark of the third period to knot the score for the Elmira College women’s ice hockey program before the SUNY Potsdam Bears rallied in overtime to secure a 2-1 victory against the Soaring Eagles on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The contest’s first goal would come in the third period, as Kaylee Merrill beat Elmira goalkeeper Emily Finach ’25 at the 13:15 mark to give the Bears a 1-0 advantage.
- Elmira answered later in the period to knot the score 1-1, as Dougherty got her shot past Potsdam goalkeeper Magalie Parent at the 16:52 mark.
- With 17 seconds remaining in overtime, the Bears would capitalize off a 2-on-1 rush to find the back of the net and secure the 2-1 victory against the Soaring Eagles.
- Elmira finished the contest 0-of-3 on the power play, while Potsdam was 0-of-1 with the extra skater. The Soaring Eagles held a 62-18 advantage in shots on goal, including 25 shots in the second period, as Parent finished with 61 saves for the Bears. Finach recorded 16 saves on 18 shots for the Soaring Eagles.
- The Soaring Eagles finished with 45 faceoff wins on the night as Sophie Compeau ’25 tallied 16, while Alayna Toole ’26 won 10.
